Lane Twitchell is an American artist, born in 1967. Through using images and forms found in urban environments, Twitchell’s art deals with issues regarding nature, culture, architecture, and space . His visually captivating works consist of folded and cut paper that form intricate and colorful repeating designs that tie into themes of American consumerism and religious expansionism. Twitchell has held six solo shows in New York, Washington D.C., and Salt Lake City and has participated in more than 30 group exhibitions across the country. His commissions include work with the Chicago Public Art Program and the Department of Cultural Affairs Percent Art Program. In addition, Twitchell has received several awards and residencies including a “Craft Fellowship” and a “Drawing Fellowship” from the New York Foundation for the Arts. His work can be found in the collections of the Art Bank Program, Washington D.C.; The Goetz Collection, Munich, Germany; The Progressive Corporation, Mayfield, OH; and the Neuberger Berman Collection, New York City. He lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
