Remember Yugoslavia is a multi-media exhibition devoted to the passing memory of the former Yugoslav state. According to artist Andrev Velijkovic, who organized the exhibition:

070exg693_5_lg_144_144The tragedy and confusion pertaining to the outrageous intensity of conflicts, devastation, and manipulation and the very fact that people, the land, villages, and cities of the entire country are being destroyed in front of our eyes, is hardly bearable. Lack of cultural identity, anxiety, pain and distrust have become a part of our everyday lives, and therefore we, the artists from the former country of Yugoslavia, have decided to begin a long-term art project, so that we can express, speak out and share, through the means of creative activities, our feelings with the American people.

070exg693_4_lg_144_144Poignant and emotionally charged, the works in this exhibition confront violent displacement and irrevocable loss with a call for solidarity, offering heartfelt testimony not only about the history and politics of the former Yugoslavia, but also about the therapeutic properties of art.
