San Diego: America's Finest? Public Questions in a Private CIty

In an attempt to draw public attention to critical issues such as racism, sexism, and political corruption, the artists in this exhibition created a number of public provocations in San Diego. Using bus posters, billboard signs, and newspapers ads, the artists highlight such injustices as the exploitation of illegal workers by the city’s tourism industry, police shootings of civilians, unsolved serial killings of women, and the city’s failure to create a memorial to Martin Luther King Jr. Documentary evidence of the project is installed at Art in General and includes printed matter, installations, and video works.
