Operation: Mice
For his Eastern European Residency Exchange with Sztuki Gallery in Krakow, Poland, Ward Shelley has created Operation: Mice.
Described by the artists as “an exhibition around the edges”, Operation: Mice proposes that the artist’s position is to occupy the space between insider and outsider. Operation: Mice takes you down the back alleys and hidden corridors of the Bohemian Cultural Elite: Is it underworld or underwear?
An installation with 10 channels of video using surveillance cameras and neglected locations throughout Bunkier Sztuki, Operation: Mice includes new works by Oskar Dawicki, Joanna Rajkowska, Lukasz Skapski and Ward Shelley.
This residency and exhibition are part of Art in General’s Eastern European Residency Exchange (EERE) gives artists an opportunity to create a new work in a new context, and to meet and interact with art communities in Eastern Europe and New York City. Ward Shelly was nominated by Art in General to Bunkier Sztuki Gallery in Krakow, Poland.
