In The Near Future
Sharon Hayes
Curated by Sofía Hernández Chong Cuy
In The Near Future is a series of actions of ten simulated protests by Sharon Hayes in New York City, taking place from November 1-9, 2005. The attending audience documented the events in a variety of media, and their images—in slide format-–are exhibited at Art in General on November 9, 2005.
In The Near Future is the second of two art projects by Hayes commissioned by Art in General. This performance was co-presented by Art in General and PERFORMA 05, the first biennial of new visual art performance at venues across New York City, from November 3-21, 2005. A catalogue published by PERFORMA with an essay about this project written by Sofía Hernández Chong Cuy is published in 2007.
