Small Scale Abstraction: Part I
Michael K. Bisbee, Mari Rantanen, Li Lin Lee, Julie Fromme, Joan Snitzer, Jim Napierala, Donald McLaughlin, Donald Fortenberry
This exhibition focuses on the work of nine artists that create abstract paintings primarily influenced by geometry. Small in scale, the works range form 9-25 inches in height and vary in style and material. Ranging from thick oils on carved wood, as in the work of Julie Fromme, to the smooth, glossy surfaces of Donald McLaughlin’s paintings, the works in this exhibition share an interest in the juxtaposition of hard-edged geometry with organic shapes and a variety of textures. This exhibition is the first of a two-part series.
