Terrain

During his residency at Art in General, Allan deSouza collected found objects from the streets of Chinatown, which he then transformed into sculptural cityscapes. After creating the sculptures, de Souza photographed them to evoke ”strategies of fiction, masquerade, and elusiveness in order to refute readings of authenticity.” Terrain is an ongoing series in which deSouza explores nostalgia, identity, and translocation.
