Animal, Vegetable, Video: Memories of Manhattan from a Millennium Ago

Sam Easterson
Additional participants Cara O'Connor

025airg400_4_lg_144_144During his residency, Sam Easterson created a map of Manhattan out of electric cables on the gallery floor, and within it arranged taxidermy examples of five species of Manhattan’s earliest inhabitants: the Pitcher plant, deer, coyote, mouse, and lobster. Three video monitors suspended above the installation show the point of view of each creature as captured by cameras attached to the live animals and plant.
