Installation

Using objects in their original, un-altered form, Paulus Kapteyn has created an installation that plays with volume, tension, kinetic potential and materiality. An avid reader of Kant, Kapteyn’s work seeks to convey Kant’s theory of the Ding an Sich, or the thing-in-itself. Through presenting objects in their fundamental form, Kapteyn’s installations show the materials truest qualities: the clamp is clamped, the rubber is rolled and flexed and the board provides stability.
