THAW: An Exhibition of Six Emergent Artists from London
Rachel Chapman, Nadia Turan, Michael D. Turner, Louise Evans, Alison Gajra, Alexander Gorlizki
Curated by Omar Lopez Chahoud, Laurie De Chiara
Thaw features six emerging artists from London that work primarily in sculptural form. Conceptual in nature, the work challenges the boundaries of sculpture, taking diverse materials ranging from welded PVC and Stellotape to men’s shirts and synthetic eyelashes as its primary material. Curated by Omar Lopez Chahoud and Laurie De Chiara, the exhibition was intended as a complement to British artist Damien Hirst’s Freeze exhibition from 1988. Focused on emerging artists, Thaw provides a link to contemporary trends in British art.
