Begun in 2005, Beyond Art in General is a series of exhibitions and art projects taking place outside of Art in General’s facilities and engaging new audiences for contemporary art. The first projects of this series began in 2005 with a partnership with Bloomberg LP, where Art in General began organizing a series of temporary exhibitions in the company’s New York headquarters—a media office space described as the first ultramodern workspace of the twenty-first century. These first exhibitions were followed by a second exhibition at Deutsche Bank and, most recently, an exhibition at the UBS Art Gallery, both in New York. The most long-standing partnership has been with Bloomberg LP. This has allowed Art in General to initiate and fund a curatorial fellowship program—three fellows to date have curated four contemporary art exhibitions at Bloomberg. Art in General approaches these partnerships and venues as unique opportunities to engage emerging artists in creating work for unconventional spaces, and to create new and informed audiences for contemporary art.
