Sandra Ceballos’ seven-week residency at Longwood Arts Project in New York culminated in this solo exhibition. Titled Clinic of the Angels, the exhibit features assemblages and photographs that explore the darker side of human experience. Bloodstained fabrics, pocketknives, pills and stuffed hosiery are used to communicate a feeling of illness and morbidity. Ceballos has affirmed that her work is often based on autobiographical narratives through which she seeks to represent the existential drama of the human condition as both a personal and universal theme.
