"Human Figure and Monumental Architecture" an exploration with Dr. Geoffrey Taylor

Public Program
Nov 25, 2006
At the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Audrey Munson’s image is seen in representations evoking human achievement, loss, and memory. A conversational tour led by Geoffrey Taylor will address the human figure in the context of monumental architecture. To illustrate the dependency on Classical traditions in early twentieth-century America, this guided walking tour will examine the portrayal of Audrey Munson as Victory Mourning and Memory, both by (Daniel Chester French, and Descending Night by Adolf Weinman, and consider the use of her figure within the facade of the museum.

Dr. Geoffrey Taylor is an architectural historian and research scholar at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
