Jeanine Oleson and Ellen Lesperance
In We Like New York, and New York Likes Us, the artists revisit Joseph Beuys’ seminal 1974 performance piece, with a contemporary, urban twist. Whereas Beuys lived with a coyote in the space of a NYC gallery, Oleson and Lesperance will lock themselves in the gallery space with a rat—a theatrical and humorous take on the anxieties and absurdities of the modern age.

Karen Porter Sorenson
As part of the ongoing project Love Research, the artist, dressed in red from head to toe, sets up a mobile “love station” from which she recruits passersby to answer five questions about love in exchange for a rose. Sorenson’s performance is a means of creating a dialogue and communication within an urban setting, one which is often marked by isolation and distrust.

Will Kwan
In 24h Citibank ATM Vestibule, Walker and Broadway, the artist will be conducting a forensic analysis of a nearby ATM vestibule, pulling the fingerprints and footprints left throughout the space. In a performance that evokes surveillance and crime-scene investigation, Kwan extracts the barely-perceptible traces of human existence in a highly impersonal, public space.
