LISA DENNISION
Lisa Dennison is Chairman of Sotheby’s North and South America, focusing on international business development, a role that draws on her considerable strengths as an internationally recognized figure in the fields of Modern and Contemporary art.

From 1978 to 2007, Ms. Dennison was on the staff of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, most recently as Director of the Guggenheim Museum in New York and prior to that, as Deputy Director and Chief Curator of the Foundation. During this time, Ms. Dennison strengthened the visibility and reputation of the museum, while helping to realize its institutional goals as the flagship of its premier global network of museums in New York, Venice, Bilbao, Berlin, and Las Vegas. Ms. Dennison organized over 35 exhibitions of Modern and contemporary art for major institutions around the world, many based on the museum’s renowned permanent collection, which she was instrumental in developing during her tenure. She is the author of more than 25 catalogue essays, and is a frequent lecturer at venues internationally.

Ms. Dennison earned her B.A. from Wellesley College in Art History and French in 1975, and received an M.A. in Art History from Brown University in 1978. She serves on the Board of Directors of The Women’s Forum, and is a member of the Business Leadership Committee of Wellesley College, the International Advisory Board of the Louise T. Blouin Foundation, the Creative Arts Advisory Board of Brown University, and ArtTable.

PHONG BUI
Phong Bui is an artist, writer, independent curator, and the Co-Founder, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of the monthly journal the Brooklyn Rail and the publishing press Rail Editions, as well as the Host/Producer of Off the Rail on Art International Radio. From 2007 to 2010 he was a curatorial advisor at MoMA PS1. Currently he serves on the boards of the Third Rail from the Twin Cities, the Miami Rail, the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation, the Marie Walsh Sharpe Foundation, and the International Association of Art Critics-United States (AICA/USA).

Since 2000 he has curated 40 solo and group shows in various museums and galleries. Come Together: Surviving Sandy, Year 1, an exhibition that featured over 300 artists in commemoration of the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Sandy, was named as the #1 exhibition of 2013 in New York City by Jerry Saltz in New York Magazine, and in the New York Times Roberta Smith wrote, “This egalitarian show makes palpable the greatness of New York’s real art world.” Bui has interviewed over 300 artists, writers, critics, and art historians; written nearly 200 essays and art reviews; and drawn nearly 700 pencil portraits of notable personalities from various disciplines.

As a visual artist, his colorful, collage-like installations have won the Award in Art from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the Eric Isenburger Annual Prize for Installation from the National Academy Museum (2003). Bui has taught at various institutions of higher education; currently he holds a seminar in the MFA Photography, Video and Related Media Department at the School of Visual Arts.

Bui and the Brooklyn Rail Curatorial Projects are currently curating two large group shows: Blood Flames at Paul Kasmin Gallery scheduled for the summer, and Migration to the Interior to the Interior at Red Bull Studios this upcoming fall.

JENNIFER BLEI STOCKMAN
Jennifer Blei Stockman has served in numerous capacities in the non-profit world for over 20 years. She has been President of the Guggenheim Foundation since 2005 and is an active member of all of the Museum’s Board and acquisition committees. 

Stockman has been a passionate collector of contemporary art since 1990 and has served on various committees at MOMA, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Aspen Art Museum as well as founding the Bruce Museum Council in Greenwich, CT.

Stockman is the Chair Emeritus and former National Chair of the Republican Majority for Choice (RMC) – regularly interviewed on national television, wrote and published opinion pieces for national syndications and lobbied the House and Senate for legislation pertaining to a woman’s right to choose. She was the recipient of the CT Prescott Bush award in 2005.

Stockman began her business career at IBM as a systems engineer while simultaneously getting her MBA in Finance at George Washington University.

She has 2 daughters and lives in New York City and Greenwich, CT with her husband, David.

CHUCK CLOSE
Chuck Close is a visual artist noted for his highly inventive techniques used to paint the human face, and is best known for his large-scale, photo-based portrait paintings. He is also an accomplished printmaker and photographer whose work has been the subject of more than 200 solo exhibitions in more than 20 countries, including major retrospective exhibitions at New York’s Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid and most recently at the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia. He has also participated in nearly 800 group exhibitions. An award winning artist, Mr. Close was presented with the prestigious National Medal of Arts by President Clinton in 2000. In 1988 Mr. Close was paralyzed following a rare spinal artery collapse, he continues to paint using a brush-holding device strapped to his wrist and forearm. Mr. Close studied at the University of Washington School of Art (B.A., 1962) and at the Yale University School of Art and Architecture (B.F.A., 1963; M.F.A., 1964), receiving honorary degrees from both of his alma maters as well as 20 other institutions. Close is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, has served on the board of many arts organizations and was appointed by President Obama to serve on The President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities.
