%ef%80%a1img_2959_144_144Art in General’s in-school Arts in Education Program has been in operation for over ten years and combines school curriculum with contemporary art practices. Participating teaching artists and classroom teachers collaboratively create lesson plans that enrich curriculum and integrate the concepts and techniques of exhibiting artists at Art in General, as well as the ideas, questions, needs, and experiences of the students served. Throughout the school year young people are exposed to unconventional art practices and given the materials and guidance to make their own original artwork. The program culminates in Artscool, an annual showcase of student work in Art in General’s galleries.

%ef%80%a1img_2739_144_144El programa de Educación en el Arte de Art in General, actualmente en su décimo año, combina un programa de estudios con practicas de arte contemporáneo. Artistas participantes y profesores trabajan colectivamente para planificar lecciones que enriquecen su currículo e
integran conceptos y técnicas sobre exhibicion artística en Art in General, así como también ideas, preguntas, necesidades y experiencias los estudiantes. A lo largo del ano escolar, los jóvenes son expuestos a técnicas de arte no convencionales, dando los materiales y dirección para crear sus propias obras de arte. El programa llega a su cumbre en Artscool, una exhibicion anual, donde los estudiantes exponen su trabajo en las galerías de Art in General.

Art in General*的”學校美術教育計劃”於數十年來,致力於將當代藝術的實作融入於學校的美術課程中。由參予的藝術家與學校教師共同設計出一個”應用 Art in General的參展藝術家之創作理念,以豐富課程多元性及參與學生的經驗為目的”的教學專案。於整個學年中,學生們將接觸有別於一般的美術實作,並將在老師的帶領下,創作出自己的原創作品。此外,Art in General 於每年舉辦一個名為Artscool 的展覽,以展出學生的美術作品。

Additional support has been provided by the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency; Agnes Gund and Daniel Shapiro; William T. Grant Foundation; The New York City Department of Education; the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs; Colgate-Palmolive Company; ConEdison; and public funds from Creative Curricula, supported by the New York State Council on the Arts’ Local Capacity Building Program and administered by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.
