Artist: Allan Schwartzman

New York-based critic and curator Allan Schwartzman has written about the art world for Art and Auction, The New York Times, and The New Yorker. He currently serves as the advisor to Ree Morton’s estate and has written extensively about her work. In 1980, Schwartzman and Kathleen Thomas organized an exhibition of Morton’s work for the New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York City, which then traveled to the Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston, TX; University of Colorado Museum, Boulder, CO; Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo, NY; and Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago, IL. Schwartzman, an expert on the art world in New York City in the eighties, wrote the introduction to the book After Andy – Soho in The Eighties.
